The Fault in Our Stars

Parents need to know that The Fault in Our Stars is a story about teens fighting cancer, and sensitive readers might be uncomfortable with the subject matter and sometimes graphic descriptions of what it’s like to die. Hazel has some near-death experiences and also copes with Gus as he vomits uncontrollably, etc. Characters lose eyes, legs, control of their personalities, and more. Also, characters play violent video games and read books and watch movies with high body counts. There’s some swearing and drinking, and the two main characters, who are in love, do have (safe) sex, though it’s described only briefly. This is a mature and powerful story: Hazel not only provides teens with insight about what it is like to know you’re dying — and to lose someone you love — but her story is also about deciding to love and be loved, even when you know it will cause pain.

This book is an amazing story of bravery and romance. Something that I love about TFIOS (that I have also stated in my YouTube video) is that I love how real this book is. The story it tells isn’t fiction fantasy; it’s a real story with real characters and real problems in the real world. I think that’s what makes them so relatable. They struggle with everyday problems just like the rest of us, only theirs are a bit more extreme. Hazel Grace is such an amazing heroine. I notice that nobody ever calls her that, but she is. She is more brave than any of the others from my fandoms. She’s stronger than Katniss Everdeen. She’s braver than Tris. She’s more loyal than Clary. Even Hermione shrinks in comparison with her. Hazel Grace Lancaster is THE hero. Maybe she never faced demons, but she had to fight Stage IV cancer, isolation and the loss of her boyfriend. Hazel Grace is the strong one. Whenever I read the book, I always feel like I am having a direct conversation with Hazel and Augustus. To me, it feels like they are actually sitting right in front of me, not trapped within the confines of pages. But not to worry about that problem anymore, because the movie is coming!!!  so excited !!

An incredible book that definitely deserves all the attention and brilliant reviews that it has received. Thank you all for reading my TFIOS Book Review, I hope you enjoyed it! “Love Story” for new generation – By Plano

John Green has provided another generation with a piece certain to earn a place beside Love Story as a memorable tale of young lovers facing an uncertain future. He’s included some wonderful characters (Issac and Patrick) along with a quest for the couple. It’s an easy, though emotional, read – very well written and thought provoking

Divergent

This book ,like Hunger games is set up in future. It is set up in Chicago, where society is divided into five factions, representing five key human characteristics: Abnegation (the selfless); Candor (the honest); Amity (the peaceful); Erudite (the intelligent); and Dauntless (the brave).   Sixteen-year-olds must choose between the faction they were born to and trained for, or the faction the testing identifies as their best fit.  If they choose their family’s faction, they may live the rest of their lives knowing they’re denying who they truly are.  But those who change factions never see their families again.

For Beatrice, the choice is even more complicated.  According to her results, she’s a Divergent – someone who could belong to multiple factions, who can’t be clearly pigeonholed.  In a world where everyone has their place, it’s a terribly dangerous thing to be…

A lot of comparisons have been made between this book and The Hunger Games.  Both have a romance component (I personally prefer Beatrice’s love interest to Katniss’s).  In my opinion, Katniss has a stronger, more immediate voice – I found Beatrice a little bit detached – but they’re both active, well-rounded heroines worth cheering for.  Beatrice’s world is more complex, and I really enjoyed the philosophical questions Divergent raises.  The action and suspense is more evenly distributed in The Hunger Games, but last fifty pages of Divergent are truly nail-biting.

Here is what others have got to say about this book….

arleneThis book is totally WICKED!! I am, without a doubt, hooked. I want more… NOW!

I have to say, I had an absolute blast reading this wild ride of an adventure, and I enjoyed every minute of it. EVERY.SINGLE.MINUTE! I haven’t had this sort of rush since Katniss entered the Hunger Games and turned my world right side out! The characters, setting, plot, pace and narrative where perfectly blended to produce a highly action packed novel that I’m sure will captivate dystopia fans. I’ve found a series that will keep me eager for the coming releases, and I can’t wait to read more of Tris and her crew of Divergents!

1310688 kristiWOW. WOW…. no really, just wow. Could not put it down… and I CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT!

There are many things that make this a great book. The story, the characters the writing. It wasn’t just one thing that stood out to me, this was a perfect mesh of all the things that make a book unforgettable.

When I talk about connecting with characters, this is the type of book I’m talking about. I don’t mean, connection in a way of relating to them. I mean connection in a way that these characters meant something to me, that I felt their pain, their happiness, their despair. I cared what happened to them. That’s what connection means to me. Divergent gave me that and so much more.

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games, written by Suzanne Collins, is mixture of nerve-racking tension, thrilling action, and engaging love story that will keep you turning page after page. I was kind of amazed at how completely engrossing the plot was. This story is set in a future where the government oppresses its people,

When the book opens, North America as we know it has been destroyed and is now divided into 12 districts, ruled by an oppressive government located at the Capitol. Katniss Everdeen, a 16-year-old girl from District 12, takes her younger sister’s place as one of 24 “tributes” selected every year to participate in the Hunger Games at the Capitol.

The Games pit children from ages 12 to 18 against each other in a fight to the death in a giant, treacherous arena. Everything is shown on television and is highly publicized all over the country. The problem with Katniss is that she must not only survive the Games, but deal with a romance between her and another tribute from District 12, all the while deciding if she is willing to kill strangers her own age as a pawn of an oppressive government.

The Games provided a backdrop to one of the most enthralling plots I have ever read. Katniss constantly battles thirst, fire, hunger, wild animals, injuries, and other teenagers for survival. She makes and loses friends, While the plot is mainly what drives this book, the creativity of this future world and the concept of the Games was something new. In addition, the characters are all very strong and show character development throughout the book.

Here is what other people say about this book….

2250020 hgThis book was recommended to me after I read Unwind by Neal Shusterman and although maybe it is not as emotionally affecting as Unwind, I still think it is a fantastic book. The story has just the perfect combination of action, drama, and romance. It has a great message that you can stay human even in the most inhumane conditions. Needless to say, I am anxiously awaiting the sequel. I am sure even greater things are to come in the next book.

Cara says….

1876075 hg2I want to scream to the top of my lungs and say that: THIS BOOK IS BEYOND AWESOME!!!!! Okay so maybe not that much excitement is needed, but boy this book deserves a review I probably won’t be able to give. There are plenty of good reviews of this book already, but I can’t resist the urge to put my own two cents in too

It’s really hard for me to really get into what I want to discuss without giving away spoilers. I can say this though, the book had almost everything in it. Thrills, chills, suspense, humor (only a little but it’s there), romance (kind of questionable I guess), struggle with identity, life and death situation (obviously), compassion and so much more that I’m sure I am missing.

Sean Donahue

A must read for any salesperson, not only Network Marketers. It will help you to plan your approach to any clientele that you would like to do business with where meeting in person might come in handy whether it is to land a new account, or to leverage the relationship to gain access to another relationship. It has great advice for developing friendships with the people you meet and how to approach them with the solutions to their inefficiencies, and if your product, service, or opportunity can solve their problem so much the better. But it is clear that you should be genuinely interested in other people and give value firstly in any capacity that you are able to. The tactics in this book are excellent at opening doors to opportunities.

Great book to read, especially for someone starting in network marketing. Worre really gives a straight forward approach on how to treat NM as a profession and just a ‘give it a try’ business.
